Happy Birthday, E!

Yesterday was E’s 12th birthday. We started a little bumpy, as I sent him back to bed when he got up (it was not even 7am and he’d been up til almost 10, plus I was trying to get his gifts wrapped). After that, however, we had a great day. We went to IHOP for breakfast, then stopped by church to get my paycheck, where we discovered a card for him with a check written out to him–a first! So we went by the bank, and then headed to a local “re-store” to pick up a board for a project I’m planning on doing today. We dropped that off at home and then headed back out to go “wherever the wind would take us,” which ended up to be three bookstores, a deli for lunch, and walking around a downtown area. I got a little cake for last night, as he’s having a sleepover tonight and I’ll make the regular cake for that. He loved his gifts, particularly the two puppets and the Kermit lunchbox.

Probably his favorite gift (ok, other than the guinea pig he got last week) came the night before, when I was able to tell him that I’d gotten a call from the job I wanted. He’s had his heart set on it, so I’m glad it worked out for both of us! There are still details to be figured out, and lots of paperwork, as it’s in another state, but I think it will be a big improvement in our quality of life. Hooray!

  1. Aww, what a big milestone together! I’m so excited to see thing going well — if sometimes bumpily, of course! — for both of you.
