The Great Body Hair Experiment

General Musings

Well, here it is, June. A new month, another chance to go for NaBloPoMo after the last two spectacular failures. I also like the beginning of the month for resolutions or to try new habits or practices.
This month (and probably longer), I’ve decided to stop shaving my body hair. I’ve been shaving my legs, armpits, and bikini line since puberty. I don’t have any particularly strong reasons for doing so except societal expectations, so I figured I might as well try growing it out. My prediction is that I will end up eventually going back to shaving at least my legs. It did occur to me in the shower this morning that perhaps the beginning of summer was not the best time to start this experiment, as everything will be exposed, but that also means I’ll be experimenting with reactions (including in my congregation). Dude doesn’t care one way or the other.
I shaved yesterday, to start with a clean slate. Here are photos of my leg and armpit, taken today. Clearly if I do start shaving again, I’ll need a new razor!
