So my last post was literally last year. I had signed up for NaBloPoMo for December, and on day four met The Dude. By the time we were mid-way through the month, I was totally distracted by love. It’s been a whirlwind ever since, and my blog has been sadly neglected. To try and fix that, I signed up for NaBloPoMo for May. In case you are unfamiliar, NaBloPoMo is a challenge to post something on your blog every day for a month. Today is May 4 (oh wait, anniversary of meeting Dude! I digress…), and this is the first chance I’m getting to blog. I’m already behind! Oh, well. Better late than never, right?
I have some great blog pieces in mind, and due to pertinent parties not being officially informed of all the goings-on yet I can’t give a full update, but suffice to say we are basically now blending into a family of five. Life is completely hectic, but ridiculously happy. We’re the couple that makes people barf with our adoration of each other. He makes me laugh more than anyone I’ve every known. He tickles me just to hear me giggle (or cackle, if he does it long enough). He still can’t quite comprehend that I’m a pastor, but hopefully it will sink in before I retire. In the meantime, we can tell lots of jokes about my love for “Jeebus.” I love his kids, and E seems to be taking to the big brother role with no problem.
This week, Dude is away on business. For the first couple days, E was on his 8th grade Washington, DC trip (which he didn’t really enjoy, mostly due to all the rain they endured), so it was just me and Dude’s kids, but now E is back and I am solo-parenting three. It’s actually gone pretty smoothly. I think I’m a little stricter than Dude in some aspects, but for the most part there isn’t a lot of kickback (yet). I miss my Dude like crazy, though. It’s amazing how quickly I’ve gotten used to having a partner after so long doing everything myself.
Anyway, that’s what going on in my neck of the woods, at least as far as the reasons for me long absence. Hopefully, I’ve missed all the days that I’m going to for May, and can get back on the NaBloPoMo wagon. It’s just the structure I need to make the time to blog, which I actually love to do. Now, if I could just find something that would do that with me and sewing…
